Free range eggs are the way forward
Hinchliffe’s is delighted to announce that all eggs sold in the farm shop are free range or from chicken-friendly barn systems, which promote natural behaviour and allow the birds to move around at their free will.
Partner Les Hirst commented: “There’s no doubt about it, our customers prefer to buy eggs sourced from non-battery systems – and rightly so. Obviously, free range and barn systems are much better from an animal welfare point of view, but they also carry a hidden bonus – the eggs are delicious!
“The eggs sold in our farm shop are replenished several times a day so they are never more than a day old - you can’t get much fresher than that!”
New ranges: Definitely "Deliciously Yorkshire"
Here at Hinchliffe’s we have always been committed to providing our customers with fine Yorkshire-sourced produce.
Our buyers recently attended Deliciouslyorkshire’s ‘Meet the Producers’ day in York – and came away with some exciting new ranges for the farm shop:
Yorkshire Dales Granola from Yockenthwaite Farm Bakery
Milled and baked at the farm near Skipton, this granola was originally offered to the farm’s bed & breakfast customers as a breakfast cereal, but it proved so popular that guests wanted to buy it to take home! It comes in four different types: Nutty, Not-so-sweet Nutty, Oat Spelt, Not-so-sweet-oat spelt and Nutty spelt, and three different-sized packs: 70g (snack size), 250g and 475g.
Jams, jellies, marmalades and chutney from Glenroyd Organics, Barnsley
This husband-and-wife team produces a delicious and unique range of top-quality organic produce, including flavours such as Fruity Beetroot, Spiced Pumpkin, Apple, Fig & Walnut, Orange, Clementine & Almond.
Superb smoked meats from Mackenzie’s Smoke House, Blubberhouses
An award-winning smoke house in North Yorkshire producing a wide range of smoked meats and fish, including oak-smoked duck, chicken, ostrich, venison, wild boar, goose and kippers, salmon, trout and mackerel, not to mention various fish pâtés.
Also new to the farm shop are our fresh olives and other speciality Mediterranean vegetables. Unpasteurised as nature intended and available in a range of 12 products including sun-blushed tomatoes, antipasto and sweet chilli garlic. The olives come in Kalamata, Black Pitted, Green Chilli, and Etna or Vinci mixes.

Meet our antipodean additions to the open farm!
Come and say g’day to our exciting new animals from down under – Hinchliffe’s welcomes the arrival of a pair of wallabies and kune kune pigs.
Partner Simon Hirst commented: “We’re delighted to introduce our new additions to the open farm. Kune kune pigs have been brought back from the brink of extinction thanks to breeding programmes in their native New Zealand and the UK, and we’ll have to strengthen the fencing for the wallabies – they are the Harry Houdinis of the animal world!”.
Blooming marvellous: Compost, hanging baskets and bedding plants on sale
Now that bedding season is upon us, there’s a good chance that you will be getting your garden ready for summer. We have a full range of composts, made-up hanging baskets and bedding plants in our nursery area, giving you ideas and inspiration for how to add instant colour to your gardens.
Parliamentary support for Hinchliffe's sausage butties!
Labour MP for West Bromwich East Tom Watson has cast his vote: Hinchliffe’s Old Farmhouse restaurant for the best sausage butty!
On a recent trip to Yorkshire, Mr Watson and his son popped into The Old Farmhouse for a bite to eat. On his official blog, Tom raved: “Let me say that if you like sausages, you should pay a visit to Hinchliffe’s Farm in West Yorkshire’s ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ country. Junior and I tucked into the best sausage butty that I have ever eaten…”
“It’s fantastic to see Hinchliffe’s mentioned on Mr Watson’s blog” said partner Simon Hirst. “It’s always nice to hear feedback from people near and far. All sausages and many other ingredients served in The Old Farmhouse are sourced directly from our farm, on-site butchers or farm shop, which means we can always guarantee quality and freshness”.
Why not try our sausage butties, or any other of our mouthwatering dishes for yourself?
